Alberhill Clay Mines

The Alberhill clay mines was a place for residents of Elsinore to work. It later became Pacific Clay which still makes bricks and other clay products today. You can see Pacific Clay just off the freeway on the north side of Lake Street. Folks have been mining clay out of Elsinore's hills since the late 1800's. Alberhill is named after Mr Albers and Mr. Hill. The Luiseno Indians believe their creator died in this part of the valley, thus causing the soil to turn red. For this reason, some Luiseno Indians object to the mining of clay.
