Little Women
October 20, 2008
Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott, rationalizes how everyone celebrates Christmas, but Meg ends up falling in love with someone that Jo despises. Beth was looking outside the window, when she saw a stiff figure standing outside in the frigid weather. She went outside and found a snowman holding a basket. She grabbed the basket that was in front of the snowman’s feet. She ran inside. She got a better look of it. There was from Laurie and Jo embroidered on it. Her heart began to feel warm and cozy. She lifted the cloth off of it. Inside there was some cookies, a card, some flower seeds and some sewing supplies. Beth took out the card first, it was truly amazing. It looked statuesque, there was one of Amy’s pulchritudinous drawing stuffed inside, a poem written by Meg, a music piece from Laurie, a comic from Jo, and a one of mother’s stories. Beth loved it because it was stuffed with love. She was so happy, and the best part was that her father was coming home today! A few minutes later Laurie came in with father. Beth ran up to him, she began to act very convivially. Father was glad that she was acting so convivial, since she had been so lugubrious when she was sick. Everyone was happy. Mr. Brooke, who secretly has a huge crush on Meg, came in to congratulate everybody. Mr. Brooke “accidentally” left his umbrella at their house. Then he came back later, he came back an hour before dinner started. He sweet talked Meg into falling in love with her. As soon as Jo heard this she began, to tell everyone that “that man” is making Meg happy, trying to sweep her off of her feet. She began to feel the deepest hatred that she possibly could for “that man”. Meg had pleased her parents very much. After dinner they began to discuss the wait for this marriage that would have to take place when Meg was ready. Meg had to get married after she was twenty, and they weren’t sure if “that man” could wait that long. Jo just so called happened to overhear the conversation, and was unhappy because she would have to have three more years of seeing the disgusting young lovers fall in love even more. She began to tune out whatever “that man” would say. Meg became very annoyed with her sister, and refused to speak to her sister. “That man“ realized that his true love refused to talk to her sister, so he refused to talk to Meg, which made Jo a little happier. Jo still hated that man. She felt as if she could get a trap and stick “that man” in it. Then she would get everything that she needed to torture him, then she would torture him until he died. Jo still despises him, but she was still happy that it was Christmas
